Meet Iliana Pámanes
Contemporary Mexican artist Iliana Pámanes is the latest artist to share her extraordinary talents with FabuLingua in our newest story ‘El tapete de la tolerancia’. A professor of fine arts and drawing at the Universidad de Veracruz, Pámanes not only teaches art and illustration, but has a storied career as an artist with over 70 solo and collective exhibitions in Mexico and internationally.
At FabuLingua we have long been mesmerized by the magical realism of Pamanes’ art, be it on large canvases or on one of her signature boxes or small scale wooden pieces. Pamanes uses both digital and traditional techniques to create a unique visual language that combines ironic allegorical elements, Spanish metaphors and magical symbolism. With it she explores her own personal emotional and spiritual journey as well as our collective fantasies.
Of her Latinx culture that has long been associated with magical realism, Pamanes says: “I think we have a tendency of believing in the intangible and we connect with profound links that are not always visible and with emotions that are sometimes difficult to communicate.”
We are captivated by the stunning art of @artesilianapamanes, and feel excited to be sharing her beautiful, quirky and surreal art with your children.
