Meet Terrell Powell
Meet Terrell Powell, the highly talented artist behind FabuLingua’s newest story “El estanque de la abuela’ (Grandma’s Pond). He is also the delightful sculptor behind the unusual farm animals in our other beautiful original story, ‘La granja del abuelo’ (Grandpa’s Farm).⠀
Our founder, Leslie Begert, met @terrellpowell at the East Austin Studio Tour. She fell in love with his artwork—its color, boldness and naiveté. ⠀
Powell creates animals who all have an iconic quirkiness, a sense of humor, and they certainly will charm you! He is a prolific and versatile artist, with an iconic and inimitable style across a wide variety of media including wood, steel, acrylic, gouache, oils, and spray paints. ⠀
In his first story, ‘La granja del abuelo’, you’ll find the illustrations are sculptures made of reclaimed wood, welded steel or fiberglass, and all painted in his signature bright colors. In his newest story, ‘El estanque de la abuela’, his masterful, hand-airbrushed technique creates a universe of the strangest fish you could ever imagine! ⠀
In these dark, monotonous days of the pandemic we can all do with a little bit of light, and his animals will put a smile on your face.
